This 3-day Jazz Festival is a FAMILY event and begins on the morning of Friday, June 29th with our middle, high school, and college level jazz band competition at the Emilie K. Asplundh Concert Hall at the West Chester University Campus, and will finish up that evening with an indoor event featuring two internationally acclaimed jazz musicians. The winner of the college level band competition will open up for our acclaimed musicians at this Friday evening event.
Saturday and Sunday will be free open-air all day events. The jazz festival is being planned so that everyone in the family can attend. We have so much amazing music to present from straight ahead jazz to smooth jazz, from jam bands to poetry jazz, jazz vocalists, Latin jazz, jazz funk, and nu-jazz. We also have some fun things for our younger guests e.g., face painters, balloon artists, jugglers, street performers, caricature artists, and various local exhibitors to showcase their goods from art, clothing, food, etc. Saturday will wrap up with an awesome fireworks display.
The 2012 Chester County Jazz Festival hopes that everyone will support us and come to see what a gem Chester County is, from its quaint small towns to its rolling hills and beautiful farms. Chester County has a rich history as jazz is rich to music’s history.
