WHO WE ARE: The Producer of the 2012 Chester County Jazz Festival is Sugarbaby Events, LLC, a locally owned events company. www.sugarbabyevents.com. Sugarbaby Events is a special events company run by two Chester County residents who simply love Jazz and want to bring their love for Jazz to the community in which they live. They have over 50 years of combined business management experience and 10 years of experience in corporate and private event planning. They have been overheard saying: “Planning events and music are two of our favorite things to do so — why not? Instead of feeling like work, planning this event feels like fun to us and so far we’re having a blast!”
WHY THIS EVENT IS SO SPECIAL: When is the last time you spent a weekend in a Chester County park and listened to the sounds of smooth jazz? Some say that music has the power to soothe the soul which is why we chose that as the festival theme. Who couldn’t use some of that?
When the Tri-State area lost the only smooth jazz radio station it had WJJZ we felt a huge gap in our daily listening enjoyment and prior to that there was a huge drop in the open air free concerts we regularly enjoyed hosted by the radio station. For years we talked about how nice it would be for someone to take that on again. After years of waiting we decided to go for it. Jazz is special. Music is special. That’s why this event is so special.
WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE JAZZ FESTIVAL: The purpose of the jazz festival is to strengthen community bonds and to offer an outlet for local artists, musicians, merchants, and business owners. Our aim is also to keep the jazz alive by focusing on the younger jazz artists/bands in the area and to bring awareness to and support the needs of local non-profits or charities in the Chester County area. The Producers have selected the Chester County Food Bank and the Stephen Chandler Ericson Foundation as their non -profit benefactors.
So there you have it. There’s nothing really special about us, we’re just two regular ’0l local Chester County folks with a dream and a commitment to do what we love.
