Although we tried very hard to address many of your questions we are sure that we missed some, therefore, this Q&A will be updated frequently.   Please write us at info@chestercountyjazzfestival.com if we did not address your question.  Here goes…..

Q: What is. the event schedule?

A:  Friday, June 29th – Paid Event at Asplundh Concert Hall at 7:00 p.m. starring Peter White.  Also appearing C.P. Lacey and Point Blank Jazz Band.  Tickets on sale now just click on “Buy Tickets”.  Saturday, June 30th and Sunday, July 1st are at no-charge / FREE in Hoopes Park, 700 Hoopes Park Lane, West Chester, PA.

We also have pre-events on Sunday, June 24th Jazz Brunch at Faunbrook.  Get your ticket now!  Jazz Jam at Social Lounge on June 28th.  Jazz Breakfast at The Host Hotel on July 1st.  Get your ticket now.

Q: Where are the events on Saturday and Sunday?

A:  Saturday, June 30th and Sunday, July 1st will feature live jazz in Hoopes Park at 700 Hoopes Park Lane, West Chester, PA.  Each day starts at 11:00 a.m. and feature the sounds of local and international jazz musicians, food, shopping, and fun.  Sat. 11:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. and Sunday 11:00 a.m. t0 6:00 p.m.

Q:  What should I bring with me?

A:  Plenty of items to protect your skin from the sun.  This is an outdoor event.  There will be no overhead tenting in the field area around the stage.  There are plenty of trees in the park as well as a pavilion but they are farther away from the stage area.  Wear omfortable shoes and clothing.

If you have medicines that you need to take please read the instructions and be sure that you make provisions to keep it at the recommended temperature.

Q:  Is there a preferred hotel and what are the rates?

A:  Our host hotel is the Wyndham Garden Exton/Valley Forge Hotel.  Click here for rates and packages.

Q:  If I’m coming in on Friday night for the Peter White Concert where can I get dinner before the concert?

A:  Here is the name of our favorite Restaurant in West Chester for dinner or lunch:  Social Lounge absolutely amazing Creole style food, 29 E Gay Street, West Chester, PA 19380 .  Here’s why it’s our favorite.  The Social Lounge blends the classic jazz club vibe with a top-notch menu, bringing you a dining experience that’s as much about a good time as it is about good food. Have you ever had:  Goat cheese-stuffed wings wrapped in bacon, or bit into an Elvis burger, topped off with peanut butter. Have you ever had cinnamon sugar encrusted ahi tuna?  AMAZING!

Q:  Where can I park?

A:  There are several options when it comes to parking.  You can park on the street but keep in mind there is limited parking around the park area, you can park in the Borough and walk, or you can park in a garage and wait for the shuttle service which loops around to each garage and back every 20 minutes.  If you park on the street please be mindful of the meters.  15 minutes for each quarter.  Parking instructions can be found Directions and Parking.

Q:  What if it rains?

A:  The show must go on.  This is a rain or shine event.

Q:  Can I bring alcohol into the park?

A:  No.  Alcohol is not allowed in West Chester Borough parks.  If you are caught with alcohol it will be confiscated and you may be asked to leave the park. Please see the program book for a list of some local restaurants or breweries where you can enjoy a refreshing drink.

Q.  What is the seating like?

A:  The festival has an open seating policy – movement throughout the festival without impediment is essential to audience flow, safety and comfort. The use of ropes, cords, tape, etc. to reserve space is not compatible with
this policy

Q:  Can I bring a tent?

A:  No but you can bring lawn chairs, beach chairs, towels, blanket.  Small umbrellas allowed within the grass seating within the perimeter of the vendors and stage.

Q:  Will there be chair rentals in the park?

A:  We are sorry but there will be no chair rentals available at the park.  Please bring your own single collapsible chair, blanket, or beach towel.  Blankets or tarps should not be more than 6′ x 8′

Q:  Will there be Wi-fi in the park?

A:  Yes, courtesy of our sponsors Weidenhammer and CISCO

Q:  Will the performing artists CD’s be for sale?

A:  Yes, please look for the blue concession tent.

Q:  Will food and water be available?

A:  Yes, we have a menu sure to please all palates from down home barbecue, grilled chicken, hot dogs, hamburgers, caribbean, thai, pizza, organic, vegetarian, cupcakes, candy, hoagies, iced coffee, etc.

Q:  Can I bring my own food?

A:  Yes, you can bring a very small cooler into the park. Soft coolers – 12-pack size or smaller only and ice is only allowed in coolers.  Keep in mind that while you can bring you own food into the park we have secured food vendors to keep your appetite satisfied.  In order to continue to attract food vendors to this event guests must support them.  NOTE:  Large hard or soft coolers are not permitted into the park and you will be asked to return it to your vehicle.  ABSOLUTELY NO GLASS CONTAINERS

Q:  Can I bring my own water?

A:  Yes, you can bring your own water but nothing larger than a 1 liter plastic bottle.  ABSOLUTELY NO GLASS CONTAINERS and NO THERMOSES.  If you bring a thermos we will ask you to dispose of the contents.

Q:  Can I bring a baby stroller?

A:  Yes, you can bring a push, fold up baby stroller but it cannot be positioned so as to block someone’s view of the stage.

Q:  Can I bring pets?

A:  While we are big fans of animals they are NOT allowed in the park not even the tiniest of creature pets.

Q:  Can I grill at the park?

A:  No open flames or grilling is allowed at the event.  Only authorized food vendors have permission to grill at the park.

Q: Should I bring cash or credit card?

A:    Festivals attract some of the most unique vendors in the area so you’ll definitely want to bring some cash with you for vendor shopping.  Some will take credit cards while others may not.

Q:  What if there is an emergency?

A:  Contact a festival staff member of the Festival immediately so that they can dispatch emergency medical team.

Q:  What if I have a question while I am at the park and can’t locate a festival staff member?

NO-NO’S

No motorized vehicles are allowed, except for use by emergency and festival personnel. No bicycle, motorcycle, or moped riding is allowed during event times. No skateboard riding or roller-skating is allowed during event times.  No wagons, carts, athletic games, ball or frisbee throwing, glass, personal tents, metal poles, shade canopies, pole-style umbrellas, anything used to reserve space such as tape, rope, cord, stakes, hammers.

ABSOLUTELY NO Video or audio recording equipment,  unauthorized vending of anything, weapons, illicit drugs, contraband, alcohol.

All bags are subject to search.

No playing of portable radios, musical instruments or similar devices that are plainly audible to others in the park, unless part of event programming, or been granted permission by Festival to do so.

Littering is a big No-No!  Please use proper receptacles for disposing of your trash.

Many of these rules are just plain old common sense so bring plenty of that with you and feel free to share it with others around you.
