Volunteers

Music Lover: One who volunteers at the 2012 Chester County Jazz Festival

Volunteers are an extremely important factor to the success of the Jazz Festival. They play a key role, working with the public to ensure enjoyment for all who attend. Volunteers work in a variety of areas at the festival, from collecting tickets, selling merchandise, event set up and breakdown, and having a blast with the guests young and old as they enjoy the activities around them. Volunteering is fun and a great way to meet new people while assisting the 2012 Chester County Jazz Festival.  What are the requirements for volunteering?

The minimum age for volunteers is 18. Volunteers must be able to withstand heat and sun, as the Jazz Festival is an outdoor event.

How many hours are expected from volunteers?
Volunteer shifts are a minimum of four (4) hours. The Jazz Festival begins indoor at 7 pm on Friday, June 29th, but volunteers begin working on the outdoor venue set up for the festival as early as 3:00 p.m. on Friday, June 29th. (Any pre-festival assistance you can offer is great!) JazzFest continues on Saturday, June 30th at 11:00 am to 10:00 pm and Sunday, July 1st at 11:00 am to 6:00 pm.

What are the benefits of volunteering at the Jazz Festival?
Volunteering is the perfect opportunity to discover new skills or develop old ones. We will need team leads over certain volunteer groups. Also this volunteer experience is a resume builder. Did you know 73% of employers will recruit a candidate with volunteer experience over one without and 94% of employers believe that volunteering can add to a person’s skill set. Any business or organization who decides to volunteer a group of ten or more will receive special recognition and signage at the event.

What happens after I fill out the online volunteer form?
Your information will be collected and a Jazz Festival representative will contact you about specific requirements for the area that you are interested in working. Please note that by filling out an on-line form, you are not assured a volunteer spot and, if selected, there is no guarantee that you will be placed in the work area of preference. If you have not been contacted by May 30th, it is unlikely that you will be placed.

Will I be trained to perform my job?
Of course, but these volunteer jobs are not difficult but they do require a large amount of enthusiasm and dedication. Depending on the area you are assigned to work, your training will either be held prior to your arrival at the festival or on-site before your shift. You will receive volunteer rules via email prior to the festival that includes lots of important festival related info.

Will there be a volunteer orientation?
Yes. Volunteer orientation will be held on Monday, June 18 from 7pm-8:30pm at Milestone Events. At orientation volunteers will receive their t-shirts, name tags, and descriptions of their job responsibilities as well as their volunteer schedule. We are currently unsure of the place so if you could put, Place to be determined.

Who do I contact if I have more questions?
If you have any questions about volunteering, please contact the Jazz Festival office at (610) 365-1404 or info@chestercountyjazzfestival.com. Please put “VOLUNTEER” in the subject line.
